After the storm

After it’s all over the sun comes out again… but tonight the moon was closer…

Storm-shack

Soon I hope I will have more time to get back to the blog again but only time will tell.

At last -the lake…

We scurry to get the project started -productivity depends on the wind, rain, and the blunders of bats.  Predicable for sure…  One of the great things about grad school is you never know what new, exciting project will turn up next.  So it is for my buddy and I as we were handed an interesting project this spring.  I has nothing to do with either of our thesis research projects but has managed absorb every spare moment and energy resource we have had over the last month or two.  It will be a fantastic advancement -if only we can actually pull it off.

The past couple of weeks I have found myself lodged on the shores of Lake Erie in northern Ohio.  I love the wildlife and the lake can be beautiful -but I haven’t had much time to observe.

Luckily, one night this past week was far too windy to chase after bats and I was able to grab my camera and hit the beach.

I nabbed a few pictures before the sun sunk too low.

Life never moves slow these days -this week I start the final season of field work for my thesis project and try to keep the work at the lake moving forward.  Regardless, I think the worst of the time crunch is over and perhaps someday soon I will be able to find the rest of my life again.

Dear Blog,

I really haven’t forgotten you -I just have this problem.  I’m in grad school.  It wouldn’t be so bad but they make me work for my keep around here.  I know it sounds like just another excuse, but I really have been quite busy.  That’s not to say I haven’t come up with anything relevant to post -it’s just that I haven’t actually gotten it done.  Don’t worry though.  I will put up a new post very… or well… sometime soon anyway.

Your Friend,

-Andrew

One = enough

Life is full of options -too many sometimes.  It’s hard to find balance.  We have so much more than we used to, and still, not quite as much as we’d like.  Sometimes it even gets hard to do things we like -there’s not enough time, we don’t have what we need want, and it’s a cold and ugly Midwest winter.  That was my excuse for photography anyway.  I noticed though, somehow others still find the time, ignore the cold, and crank out great images regardless of where they are and what they have.  So today I gave myself a little challenge… well it was more like a mandate.  I gave myself one hour, on one bike, with one camera, and one lens.  No zoom, no tripod, no flash, no bag, no backup, and in the overcast, Midwest, midwinter light.  The only requirement was that I took pictures of something -and got a little exercise.

Downtown

I found myself downtown… at rush hour.

But I found pictures.  They actually were always there if I’d taken the time to look.

My only confession… it took me an hour and a half.

TheCity

Get over it -what you have is enough… even in the big city.
